About Dunedin

Dunedin is New Zealand's first city. It has a wealth of treasures to be discovered, whether natural, historical, sporting or culinary. More information can be found below and at the Dunedin I-SITE website.

Dunedin is New Zealand's best kept secret.  With abundant wildlife on its door step there are great cafes and nightlife as well as its own chocolate factory and the steepest residential street in the world (Baldwin Street)!

Discover vibrant artworks on the Dunedin Street Art trail or take an architectural heritage journey and step back in time.  Head to Dunedin’s beautiful railway station for the Otago Farmers Market every Saturday morning or be educated and entertained at the Otago Museum.

Experience the regions scenic beauty on one of Dunedin’s walking tracks.  Grab the camera and take a scenic drive around the magnificent Otago Peninsula. Throw a ball with the kids at St Clair and St Kilda’s wide flat beaches or get the gears on and get muddy on and off road trails around the city.

Dunedin: “The people are Scotch. They stopped here on their way from home to heaven, thinking they had arrived.”
